Core Beliefs
TRCC STATEMENT OF FAITH
We Believe in One God
We believe there is one true and living God who reveals Himself as God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit—one God eternally existing in three Persons.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
We Believe in God the Father
We believe God the Father is our Creator, Deliverer, Healer, Provider, and loving Father. He is holy, just, faithful, and worthy of all honor, glory, and worship.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” — James 1:17
We Believe in Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. Through Him all things were created. He came to earth to redeem humanity from sin through His sacrificial death on the cross, His burial, and His bodily resurrection.
We believe salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
We Believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God and is active in the world today. The Holy Spirit draws people to Jesus Christ, brings conviction of sin, dwells within every believer, guides us into truth, and empowers us to live as followers of Christ.
“When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” — John 16:13
We Believe the Bible is God's Word
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, given to humanity as the authoritative truth for faith, life, and godliness. Scripture is our foundation for understanding God, salvation, morality, relationships, and how we are to live as followers of Jesus Christ.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
We Believe Humanity is Created in God's Image
We believe God created humanity—male and female—in His own image and likeness. Every human life has value, dignity, and purpose because every person is created by God.
God entrusted humanity with the responsibility to care for His creation and exercise faithful stewardship over the earth.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27
We Believe in the God-Ordained Family
We believe the family is ordained by God as the foundation of human society. Marriage is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman for life.
We believe husbands are called to love their wives sacrificially, as Christ loved the church, and to lead, provide for, protect, and serve their families. Wives are called to respect their husbands and willingly support the God-given leadership of their husbands, as the church submits to Christ.
We believe parents are responsible for raising their children according to biblical truth, correcting them in love, and teaching them to make choices grounded in spiritual and moral values.
We believe children are called to honor and obey their parents.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” — Ephesians 5:25
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” — Ephesians 6:1
We Believe Humanity is Separated From God by Sin
We believe all humanity has been separated from God because of sin. The wages of sin is death, but God has provided the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ died for our sins so that everyone who believes in Him may be forgiven, reconciled to God, and receive eternal life.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23
We Believe in Believer's Baptism
We believe water baptism by immersion is a public demonstration of the spiritual transformation that has taken place in the life of a believer through faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism does not save us; rather, it is an act of obedience and an outward expression of our identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” — Romans 6:4
We Believe the Church is the Body of Christ
We believe the church is the Body of Christ, made up of believers who come together to worship God, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, encourage and equip one another, serve others, and advance God's Kingdom.
Every believer has a role to play in the mission of the church.
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:27
We Believe in Biblical Stewardship and Generosity
We believe everything we are and everything we possess ultimately belongs to God. He entrusts His creation and resources to us so that we may faithfully steward them for His purposes.
We believe believers are called to give generously, faithfully, and joyfully to the work of God through the local church so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ may reach others and multiply.
“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” — Psalm 24:1
We Believe We Are Citizens of the Kingdom of God
We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, we become members of the Kingdom of God. Our ultimate allegiance is to Christ, and our lives should reflect His truth, His character, and His mission.
As citizens of God's Kingdom, we are called to love God, love others, make disciples, serve faithfully, and live according to God's Word.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:33
Our Commitment
We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Bible is God's Word, salvation is found through Jesus Christ, and the church exists to glorify God and make disciples.
Our desire is to know Christ, live according to His Word, serve others, and make His truth known.
