Everything we have comes from God.
Jesus affirmed the importance of giving while reminding us that our hearts must remain focused on God (Matthew 23:23). As followers of Christ, we believe God has entrusted us with resources, and we are called to faithfully steward what He has placed in our hands. Giving is therefore not simply about a percentage—it is an act of worship, obedience, trust, and gratitude.
The New Testament teaches us to give regularly, willingly, generously, and cheerfully:
From Abraham giving a tenth to Melchizedek (Genesis 14:20), to Jacob promising to give a tenth to God (Genesis 28:22), Scripture shows us that God's people have long recognized that what they possess ultimately comes from Him.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:7
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
— James 1:17
We give because God first gave to us. We give to support the work of the local church, care for others, share the Gospel, and advance God's Kingdom.
We don't give because God needs what we have. We give because everything we have comes from God.
